      • content<h2>Explore our Touring Map</h2> <p>Use this interactive feature to explore the Half Moon touring shows 1976-1984.</p> <p>In the 1970s, photographers at East London’s Half Moon Gallery developed an innovative approach to exhibition making. They arranged their work on laminated card panels, creating unpretentious exhibitions-in-a-box that travelled the country via British Rail.</p> <p>Working as the Half Moon Photography Workshop, they created an alternative exhibition circuit that reached audiences far beyond conventional art spaces. Over fifty shows travelled nationwide, enabling people to encounter new forms of community photography and social documentary as part of their everyday lives.</p> <p>This map has been created as part of a research project into the Half Moon touring shows, supported by the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. </p> <p><a class="btn btn-primary" href="https://touring.fourcornersarchive.org/" target="_blank">Four Corners Touring Exhibitions</a></p>
